Anthem is BioWare's in-house sci-fi epic in which it takes players into a distant world left unfinished by their gods. Strange, dangerous creatures live there - but humans have entrenched themselves behind a gigantic wall.
Untypically for BioWare, Anthem is not a role-playing game, but an action adventure with multiplayer component and live service in the style of Destiny and The Division.
We play a freelancer, a kind of mercenary, who invades uninhabited areas of the wooded planet and frees them from monsters. We carry a javelin, an exosuit suit with jetpack, with which we can fly, swim and run fast. We shoot like a shooter with the Blaster rifle and set up our suit and our character like in a role-playing game. There are also different suit designs such as the mighty Colossus, the nimble Interceptor, the magician-like Storm and the Allrounder Ranger.
Loot also plays an important role: we can collect new items and equipment with different degrees of rarity (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary). However, the focus should not only be on Grind, but also on exploring the planet with its Open World and on the story written by the talented author of Mass Effect 1 and KOTOR.
Anthem is designed for a four-player co-op that specializes in different javelin and combat types, but you can play almost anything on your own.
Like most current EA titles, Anthem uses the Frostbite engine.
